Ex foundry of beginning century, situated in the center of Lucca. Renovated in a respectful attentive and bright recovery of the past. Total area 250 mq, Officina is an event space that works in contemporary art and culture. The venue is an area with a strong architectural identity, an open plan living, in which the past is mysteriously transformed into the present. The space does not have rigid or thematic  separations, but wants to be fluid, there are no walls either physical or cultural. Are the objects that are used to transform the space and make it suitable to host a show, an exhibition, a children’s workshop, an installation, a dance and all the things that Officina is able to gather itself. Sometimes we need to reserve us a more intimate space where reigns the silence and contemplation; this interior living is what can become the Officina garden, protected by high walls, small and cozy, a striking suspended atmosphere.

Lo Spazio Officina (250 mq) is characterized by large opening windows on both the two sides, on the opposite of the street and on inner courtyard. The main entrance is on Via dei Bacchettoni and is characterized by a majestic glass and iron door; architectural element characterizing the totality of the openings, topped by an antique stained glass rose window dating back to the early decades of the century. The hall can be equipped with modular structures which transform it from time to time and adapt it to exhibitions, workshops, lectures and performances. The main characteristic of the room is the high trussed iron ceiling that reaches the centrally 8 mt of height; in the part nearest the entrance is a large skylight that provides natural light environment. In the final part of  the room a large glass door opens onto an interior garden that can be used as a summer place. Element-force of Officina, evidence of its past, is the magnificent crane of beginning century, that  is located almost in the center of the space, still working using manual gears in cast iron.
